For Google-watchers, Danny Sullivan has a must-read article called "25 Things I Hate About Google". It's a nice change of pace from the daily Google obsession coverage, and Sullivan makes some excellent points about search results, Blogger and the need for Google to do "one thing really well" rather than 100 different things. Sullivan originally planned to create a list of 100 things but ran out of steam so he settled for 25. To help the cause, I'd like to make a few suggestions: 1. If you're going to launch me-too services (GMail, blog search, etc.), try to at least come out with something a little bit better than what's already available. Google Earth is a great example of something really innovative. 2. Give Blogger a make-over or go out and acquire Six Apart. Blogger is an embarrassment because it looks old and tired (no trackbacks?), and it has become the tool of choice for sploggers. 3. Come clean on whether a Web-based Office-like suite is in the works. Is Google trying to head to head with Microsoft or not? 4. Better integration between the different parts of the empire. Sure, Google Homepage is getting better but it's only scratching the surface of its potential.

Update: Sullivan also issued a list of the 25 Things He Loves about Google.

While dismissing Dave Winer's threat to blog no more as nothing more than a temper tantrum, I was struck by Seth Godin's post on the volume of activity in the blogosphere and how good bloggers should write "with restraint, selectivity, cogency and brevity". It is an interesting take amid all the enthusiasm about blogging and peoples' willingness to share as much as they can - simply because the platform make it easy to do. There are times when I think that maybe my posting activity is "over-active", and it would be better to do fewer posts a day. Then again, I have tried to establish my blog as more newspaper-like with quick hits of news and thoughts (think of them as snacks rather than meals!). That said, I'm open to suggestions and comments about how to make the blog better and/or smarter. Any thoughts?
